Part One

The first index in this group is an index of Declaration of Intent papers that are housed at the Whitley County Historical Museum in Whitley County, Indiana. These original paper documents are arranged in folders by record year. The (2) in the reference (ref) column of this index refers to the fact that that particular record is also included on the microfilm that the Indiana State Archives created from the Whitley County Clerk's original naturalization book. Additional information may appear on these documents such as other family members being naturalized at the same time, or the physical description of the individual. The county where the Declaration of Intent was initially filed appears in the location column.

The second short index is of Certificate of Naturalization stubs that are also housed at the Whitley County Historical Museum. These are only the stubs of the original certificate of naturalization. These records include such things as where the person's Declaration of Intent was filed (what county and state, volume and page of record), when their Naturalization Petition was filed, and the names and residences of their wife and minor children. Only the name of each individual and the date of the record are included in this index. The county where the Declaration of Intent was initially filed appears in the location column.
